EnerSys Introduces Expanded NexSys Battery Line that Powers High-Capacity Lift Trucks
READING, Pennsylvania, April 27, 2018 – EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, is pleased to announce the expansion of its NexSys® battery line. Featuring proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, the NexSys® battery portfolio now includes configurations that can fast-charge in just under an hour and be opportunity charged to work for up to 16 hours, enabling a broad range of long-life opportunity charging options for Class I, II and III applications, including high-capacity lift trucks.
The expanded NexSys® battery line provides energy throughput of up to 160% in a 24-hour period. The batteries also offer extended life cycles exceeding 1,500 cycles at 60% Depth of Discharge (DOD).
“For nearly a decade, NexSys® TPPL batteries have been delivering virtually maintenance-free power for small traction applications,” said Chad Uplinger, Vice President, Motive Power Sales & Service Motive Power Americas at EnerSys. “With the expansion of our NexSys® battery portfolio, operators now have a field-tested, fast-opportunity charging solution for high-capacity lift trucks too. Compared to conventional lead acid batteries that need up to 12 hours to recharge, NexSys® batteries give operators the flexibility to opportunity charge during breaks or at the end of a shift, without risk to the battery."
Classified as non-spillable electric storage batteries, NexSys® batteries do not require watering, eliminating associated labor demands and overwatering risks. Ideal for use in multi-shift operations, NexSys® batteries can eliminate the need for battery change-outs. Typical applications include counterbalance trucks, reach trucks, pallet trucks, order pickers, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs).
Rugged plate construction
The rugged construction of NexSys® batteries features Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators for extreme shock and vibration resistance, making them well suited for high-use applications. TPPL technology uses only the highest purity lead in the positive and negative plates, and a very high-purity sulfuric acid to minimize the potential risk of corrosion and sulfation common to conventional lead acid batteries. The ultra-thin positive plate design allows more plates to fit in the cell; more plates mean more power generated in 30 percent less space than conventional lead acid batteries.
NexSys® batteries also deliver high electrolyte absorption and stability to help enhance cyclic capability. With a shelf life of up to two years at 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), NexSys® batteries provide unmatched performance across a wide range of temperatures, also making them ideal for cold storage applications.
